Context

TRB Chemedica, a leader in rheumatology, ophthalmology, and neurology, selected its Vouvry site to manufacture an active ingredient to treat Parkinson’s disease. The new GMP-compliant production line was designed to be flexible, adapting to market evolutions while meeting the stringent requirements of the pharmaceutical industry.

Design of a flexible pharmaceutical production facility

Design a pharmaceutical production facility control system ensuring compliance with GMP standards and efficient management of ATEX zones (explosive areas).

Achievements

Alps Group completed several key steps in this strategic project:

  • Detailed study of electrical needs, followed by the dimensioning of necessary installations and wiring diagram creation
  • Manufacture of custom electrical cabinets, including for pneumatic systems, tailored to the project’s constraints and ATEX zones
  • Installation of an innovative distribution cell, with a ControlNet communication bus to optimize energy management and ensure communication between system components

Commissioning and obtaining SwissMedic certification, allowing the new production line to quickly meet TRB Chemedica’s needs.

The pharmaceutical industry is highly regulated, and we cannot make improvements as often as we'd like. With development times and certification durations, we can lose several weeks of production whenever we modify a recipe or operation. In this context, we need flexible, responsive, and local partners like ALPS Automation to reduce downtime.
