Construction of ATEX enclosures
Syngenta requested Alps Safety’s services to enhance the safety of the ATEX zones at their Monthey site, with the design, construction, and installation of over 30 ATEX enclosures.

Context
Syngenta is a Swiss-based company specializing in the development and production of herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides intended to protect the world’s largest crops.
At Monthey, Syngenta’s largest production site, with over 870 employees, the company conducts research and development for new products as well as the production of nearly all new active substances.
The nature of the substances used at the production site required the installation of new equipment and specific safety standards to ensure the safety of employees in explosive atmospheres (ATEX zones). Therefore, Syngenta turned to Alps Safety for the design, production, and commissioning of ATEX enclosures.
Design and construction of ATEX enclosures
Syngenta mandated Alps Safety to design, construct, and install around thirty ATEX enclosures at the Monthey site.

Achievements
In collaboration with an internal project manager, Alps Safety’s team completed the following:
- The design and construction of more than 30 stainless steel enclosures certified for ATEX Zone 2
- The electrical study of the enclosures and the complete schematic using E-plan
- 3D layout implementation and ATEX certification of the prototype
- Fabrication of complex pneumatic plans;
- Supply of ATEX plaques
- Delivery to the Monthey site and the final client;
- Project management and coordination with other trades
