Development of a Malt Extraction Plant in Agbara
Discover how Alps Group supported Nestlé in developing a fully automated, interconnected malt plant with the highest hygiene and safety standards.

Context
Nestlé’s Nigerian facility primarily produces locally adapted products such as Maggi, Milo, and Golden Morn. To strengthen its presence in Africa, Nestlé launched the construction of a new malt production unit in Agbara. This project aligns with Nestlé’s strategy to support the local economy while enhancing access to nutritious food.
A Fully Automated, Interconnected Malt Plant
Design an efficient facility capable of producing malt while integrating advanced automation technologies to ensure process quality and operational efficiency.

Implementation
Alps Group managed several aspects of the project, including:
- Project management and coordination of local cabling teams
- Electrical engineering, including PLC and HMI programming
- Manufacturing of 15 electrical cabinets and 9 control boxes
- Supply and installation of Wonderware IAS supervision servers
- On-site testing and commissioning of all equipment
A team of 12 Alps Group experts worked in Nigeria, ensuring a successful integration and on-time delivery. Thanks to this initiative, Nestlé can now produce malt locally, reinforcing its value chain in Africa.
