High-Quality Transfusion Bags

Discover how Alps Group automated the quality control of transfusable solution bags at B. Braun Crissier, ensuring precision and compliance without any loss of productivity.

Context

B. Braun, a leader in the medical sector, manufactures transfusable solution bags at its Crissier site. To meet new quality requirements set by the parent company, precise inspections of weld dimensions and assembled components became necessary. These bags are produced continuously, and the intensity and speed of the required inspections make it impossible for human operators to perform these checks manually.

Automating Quality Control for Transfusable Solution Bags

Ensuring the dimensional compliance of welds and bag components without compromising productivity.

Implementation

To execute this project, Alps Group deployed its Alps Vision System, equipped with two high-precision cameras to perform inline inspections of every dimensional criterion of the manufactured bags.

Integrated into the existing welding and cutting machine, this system ensures a comprehensive 100% product inspection without slowing down production rates.

As a result, the transfusable solution bags meet the stringent standards of the medical sector.

Once the concept was decided, the Vision department at Alps Group was able to propose the appropriate technical solution (lighting, cameras, software). Additionally, Alps Group completed the implementation within a short timeframe (three months) for this type of project, thanks to the intelligent use of the existing mechanical infrastructure. After installation, the necessary support was provided, allowing for optimization of certain inspections based on product variations.
